HEATH PARK

Public BBQ

Heath Park in East Brisbane offers a surprisingly diverse recreational experience packed into a compact riverside location. The well-maintained concrete tennis courts serve both casual players and the Churchie David Turbayne tennis centre, though newcomers should note the courts are accessed via the right pathway rather than the obvious left entrance. The park's real drawcard is its excellent kayak and pontoon access to Norman Creek, where paddlers can explore upstream past houseboats or venture downstream to the Brisbane River. While the creek carries urban runoff and debris, wildlife sightings reward observant visitors. Families appreciate the playground equipment and barbecue shelter, though seating could be more abundant. The Eastern Suburbs Football Club calls the park home, adding to its community atmosphere. Parking proves challenging during peak times, and some maintenance areas need attention. The toilet block and ample council bins make it practical for longer visits, whether launching watercraft or simply enjoying the green space away from Brisbane's busier parks.
